iPhone Tripod

Gorillapod for the Iphone

Iphone camera mount

Tripod for the Iphone

Iphone Tripod 2

Since the iPhone got video I have been annoyed with no mount for my tripod. It would look so tight to have an iPhone sitting on top of my full size tripod, but of course apple will never allow a proper camera mount to be in their sleek ass phones. So I was thinking that someone should create a clamp mount that would grab the sides of the iphone and mount it to a tripod. This would allow for a lot more versatility for video guys and photographers. Until that happens…

Gorillapod is the next best thing. The little guy will run you around $25 while the big guy for full size SLRs is around $50. The little gorillapod is the one in these photographs. The benefit of having your iphone mounted is pretty clear. There is no moving of the camera and it frees up the conductor to pull out another camera and go to work; or perhaps be the subject of the film. Either way this is a clean and cheap way to mount your iphone to a tripod.

iPad Review

Written by admin on April 5th, 2010

The ipad seemed like a wonderful new addition to the household. But I’d still like to have another laptop instead.

I went to the north end of San Vicente Blvd to shoot some photographs of the clouds this afternoon and on my way back stopped at the Beverly center. There’s a great vantage point off the sixth story for down town. I was about reading to leave and then I saw two window size banners covering apple’s storefront saying the Ipad has arrived.

Basically it’s a big ipod touch with a couple more reading features. The screen was certainly striking and looked better almost any tv I’ve ever seen. A huge beef I have is the bottom. For the iphone 3G+ I can’t believe apple decided to go with the angled bottom. If you set down an old/ original iphone it will not shake or wobble at all, but if you set down a 3g phone it will take a couple seconds to settle. Same deal with ipad: I set the thing down and it took like 2 seconds to stop wobbling. This is really silly if they’re pushing for a on the couch device. Still the backside had the same quality as the first iphone, almost metal looking compared to the 3g plastic look.

So the bottom had the quality metal look of the first iphone, but unstable angled shape of the 3g.

Other than that, I think the gadget is really nice; I’d love to have one and the price point could be a lot worse. Once again Jobs has take a step toward to brave new world.

Earthquake Los Angeles, California

Written by admin on April 4th, 2010

I just experienced the earthquake in Hollywood. I’m in a brick building on the second story. After I started feeling dizzy I realized the blinds were moving with me and then I looked up at my hanging bike and it was also moving. As I walked across the room I heard the structure start to make noises. I went outside and the couple across the street went out to see what was goin on. They also said the earthquake was like a smooth motion.

Here’s a good map of where it happened: http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Maps/115-33.html

I like just searching google for “earthquake california” and they will show me all the recent updates: http://www.google.com/search?q=california+earthquake

Surprisingly there was another earthquake in southern California that was over 5.0 magnitude.
